You are so right.  Its getting to the point where there are more coals train with DPU than not.  Same goes for double stacks.

Here's one pushing some stacks across the Mississippi River bridge in Clinton.  I just missed the lead units. After the train passed the last picture shows what the bridge did.  Almost made up for missing the lead units.

Nice sequence.  I like the varied weathering on the hoppers in the roll-by.

I love DPUs - in my book they more than make up for the demise of cabeese (though I'm sure not all share that view).

Are there people who run DPU? I'm afraid some will go wrong and the DPU will push all the cars onto the floor on a curve.  Maybe we have a new reason to push for dummy locomotives.

I run DPU's on my grain and stacker. I have the same 3 engines though. I use 3 Kato AC4400's in 128 speed step with the rear unit running 1 speed step faster than the 2 on the head end, with the rear unit always faces foward with the rear head light on. It seams to keep the slack bunched but I have it set up for NTrak, so you might need to play with yours. I just find that the same model of engine plays well.
