New Walthers flyer has announcement for Greenville 100 ton hoppers. February 2011 @ $16.95. Also aggregate loads for these and pulpwood loads for sieco pulpwood cars.

They have an N-Thusiast E-flyer to sign up for instant notification on N scale sales. Handy for when they have to blow out those cabooses.

Bob.

Hey, a cool $10 for a single agg load!

The pulps weigh in at $12 a pop:

Hay Bros here I come!

At least they have avoided the "we'll make you buy our loads if you want our cars" syndrome.

Why $16.95 for new tooling (hopper) and $24.95 for old tooling (caboose)?  I'm definitely looking forward to the hoppers.

Some twit at Walthers... "Duh, people ride cabooses, so we can charge same price as passenger car price, right boss?"

I haven't bought anything they make in years.  Just not up to the standards of other manufacturers.

The Difco cars are really nice.  I am hoping the Greenville hoppers are as nice. The SIECO pulpwood cars were also not half bad - looking forward to them too.

Total out of any era I am interested in but they look pretty good, especially for $17 retail. That Southern car sure has a lot of data printed on the side of it.

They must derail easily:

Yeah, this was an extra cost feature on that HO version.

April is given as the release date but the photos look a lot better than the HO cars...
http://www.walthers.com/exec/search?category=Freight&scale=N&manu=Walthers&item=&keywords=Greenville&words=restrict&instock=Q&split=30&Submit=Search

The NS hoppers in mineral red look good but for the first 10 years or so they repainted them black like their coal hoppers.  Guess they figured out it would be easier to distinguish them vs. the coal hoppers by painting them differently.

The SOU cars shown in the HO listing was a shortlived scheme that was applied after the NS merger before they decided on graphics... never seen an NS painted car without the NS emblem.

A really good addition for modern modelers... too bad I am going to model the late-40s.
