That's right, they're coming.
Info is from our man on the street, reporting from the NSC.
They're going to be announcing them next month at the NMRA National.

Cool, I wanted to get one of the upcoming Amtrak F40's, but was wondering what they'd be pulling behind them on the Maple Leaf into Toronto. Was thinking of looking into considering pondering the thought of looking at a Bmann tube, but now I think I'll just get a couple Kato tubes.
Almost makes you wonder what took Kato so long to do this iconic Amtrak car... almost. I wonder if anyone ever said "yeah, they'll do Amfleets right after they do another run of SD45's"... because they were right!

More duplication. :-\
I know the Bachmann cars aren't the greatest, but they're workable. Why won't anyone do Horizon cars????
I guess this means I'm really stuck getting those F40s now. Man the wallet is going to take a hit this fall.

The challenge with Amfleets is the inside bearing trucks. If it weren't for the super friction design that Bachmann used, I might still be modeling the late 80's. It was one of many factors that made me give up on passenger service almost completely. Those big naked wheels right there are really hard to disguise.
I'll be really interested to see how they swing a free rolling truck and still provide for interior lighting, assuming they're still married to track power for lights.

Somehow Kato always seems to come out with some decent passenger trucks. I'm sure they will be free rolling. Always a chance Kato will sell the trucks and can be retrofited into older cars.

If you remove the electrical contacts on the bachmann cars they roll well - and of course you could adapt an easy-peasy to it as well.
But frankly, I'll just wait for Kato - hope they do several schemes, of course.
