I have a door, put down some roadbed, track. I can rip it up. :) Now you guys can draft a plan for me. While my parents and sister go to play at the park.

Edit: Just use Dave's door yard. Wouldn't that save you some time and money?

You know what would be the schnit?  If we could build some sort of centralized yard that connects to each of the doors, so we can dispatch traffic centrally, and interchange cars between the C&O, WM and PRR!

Okay, sorry.  I just turned it into a NASA project...

Im gonna go get a door today methinks. I have some track, ill see what I can mock up.

The possibilities in layout land, 2 roads with bridges in the area, and crossings...

C&O/VGN White Oak Sub
C&O/NYC NF&G
NYC/PRR, Ashtabula (or any of the other 187245214 places they crossed)
B&O/WM of course, along the Potomac
NKP/B&LE

Pretty amazing lil' layout plan you guys made there. Must make a shoppin' list.

*Wonders if PRR, C&O and WM can all exist in one place at one time, or if the world would melt due to too much awesome at once*

You'll need to file for permission to build it under copyright law.  Me and David, we have this racket going on.  If I get a chance to go dumpster diving this afternoon, I'll have it built for Weekend Update...  The ballast might be wet, but I'll try to get pictures... ;D

So, what would elevation be on this thing? Use 1 inch for the base, cut out the river, add a two inch piece on top of this for the upper level? That would clear almost anything. Even doublestacks? If you wanted to modernize.

Ha!  This is great!

The yard on the Virginia Central (C&O) was built such that it would be easy to connect another layout to any of the yard tracks.  The arrival/departure track (I think it was Track 5, counting from the front of the shelf) would be perfect to extend!

If anyone is still interested, you can just about do what Lee had proposed. Using real track, this is what Third Crossing looks like...

What is the curved turnout peco? And the turnouts, #7?

All track is Atlas Code 55. Switches are all #7, except for the one right curved switch. which is the new Atlas curved switch.

Here's photographic proof of a spot on the B&O somewhere in WV almost like what Lee has drawn.  The only difference is that B&O owned both levels.

http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/bo/bo-s7154bhn.jpg

This is probably one of the coolest scenes I've ever seen and just begs to be modeled on a small layout!

Ugh, I hate that photo, because it encourages scenes like those on layouts.

Just because the B&O had ONE location like that, doesn't mean that everyone's layout needs it on it...

Thread drift check, do I understand  this thread to mean that you all are each going to build twin-loops layouts on a door?
