So I ended up weathering the HH1 using acrylic washes.  I'd intended to fire up the airbrush (and I may yet do so), but she's just so pretty I couldn't bring myself to obliterate her with soot and road grime.  I gave her a hefty coat of Dullcote first and then went after her with thin grime and soot washes.  The firebox skirt and knuckles got some brighter rust while the tender trucks and bottoms of the cylinders got a darker rust/grime mix.  The valve gear, drivers, pilot/trailing trucks got a road grime color.  The cab roof, smokebox, and tender deck got a darker soot.

I also added the doghouse to the tender.

Overall, to me, she still looks maintained but used.  Maybe cleaner than she should be, but not offensively so.

I've been smitten by the B&O near Harper's Ferry and Martinsburg...  Would love to have seen the big B&O steam roaring through that area.  I'm not up on all of the offerings in N scale B&O steam, but would some of the USRA stuff from Spectrum, Kato, and Model Power work?

Like most eastern roads, the B&O sported some odd ducks.  They built a lot of their own at Mt. Clare, so you'd have to some customizing.  I'm not as familiar with Beano steam as some here, but for a side thang, I'd be content with a good looking, good running engine with the right paint scheme on it.

Sort of like cheating on your wife.  You want it to look good and feel right, but no need to stick around for a lengthy conversation. ;D

I'm pretty proficient in the painting department and most of the detailing department (full handrails are my only weakness). I really want to tackle a steamer, I have had a back project of modeling NKP 759 and trailing tender. It's not to hard but will help me cut my teeth before I take on a Potomac or Greenbrier. Once I get in the door at the new job and settle my daily schedule I can't wait to tackle more projects!
