C&O Mountain Sub oNeTRAK Modules

Bernie,

I would prefer to model something towards the eastern end of the Mountain Sub (i.e., somewhere towards Charlottesville, the beginning of the climb into the Blue Ridge, or even as far east as Gordonsville), if you would consider something like this, as this would fit in with the plans for a future layout.  What do you want or need that fits this bill?

Sounds like you are looking at Ivy. I posted a plan for it on the blog last night. How much room do you have? I drew it as a 8 feet long set of 2 four ft modules. It has a passing siding and we shoot for two 4 footers as a standard length siding. There was a station and a small town on the east end. If that is too big, there are some other possibilities of just open country modules that could make good 4 footers.

Ivy seems perfect for me.  My scenery skills need a lot of refining, so the simplicity of Ivy will make this task more achievable for me.  Even if I don't have the room to set up a layout to include the eight feet of modules in a layout in our basement at this time, I should have the room to at least construct and store the two modules.

Jeff, Brian and I (Matt too) each have a different style but by using common colors, fascia  etc we get it to blend together pretty well.

i was thinking the same thing - the ridge - ROW - creek - road - ridge type of scene is pretty universal - the only issue is the transition to the modules on either side.

That would be great!  Giving me the recipe for the right materials and showing me how to achieve the right texture and colors is just what I need to improve my scenery skills.

Let me know when the next work session is going to occur.  I just moved from Rising Sun, Maryland into New Castle County, Delaware, but I still work in Elkton, Maryland.  In other words, I'm mere minutes from I-95 and can be in northern Virginia in just 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

Yes, code 55 is OK, Peco or ME. We shy away from Atlas due to the pizza cutter bouncing issue, but you can use it if you have it. Lord knows, I have a ton of it.

Simply gorgeous models, the one pic I had to look twice to tell if it was actually a model!

Too bad this is so far, a module would be a good project for me (small and its a road I actually like!)

I'm not in the group (yet) but I've had the pleasure of seeing the work in person, and meeting some of the people involved.  It is an open, and friendly group of guys, but be advised, there is a very high standard of excellence that is shared by the members.  This isn't a typical N trak rig where the Nascar loop and the circus are next to the farm and the steel mill.

When Bernie talks about "scenery techniques" they are not merely suggestions.  It's the process that makes the project look so good.  Colors, textures, materials and processes are unified over all the modules to provide a very coherent and complete appearance, even when parts of the layout are missing.

I want to be involved, because I like what I see, and I want to challenge myself to try to work on this level...
