Ah, Erie Lack makes an appearance in the auto parts boxcar series and that is one I will pick up.  The BM hoppers look very intriguing but they are both too late (NH) and too early (CR) for me unfortunately.  I'm looking forward though to the release of the two NYC hoppers, as well as the B&O.

Oh, those EL cars are tempting... but B'more was a GM city, so I'm saving myself for 8 doors.

So  how can you work the 86 footers into a door layout with a 6 foot extension? I`d love to have a few of them but dont really have the need..

That's been my excuse...  I've been looking at them with a somewhat quizzical eye.  As much as I'd want one, I think they'd look ridiculous on my door layout.  I'm already pushing the limit with 89' TOFCs, but the pair of trailers on each makes them look a little less silly on curves.  Those 86-footers look like they could be HO next to a 40-foot transition-era box.

Well... I did just test run some around some 12" radius Kato Unitrack. They worked. It was ugly, but they worked...

My plan is going to be hiding the ugly curves.

I`m thinking a flat of a metal stamping plant on the rear edge of the extension. Then I could at  least switch them to and from staging...Any takers??

Personally, I was thinking I might do what life-like used to do every once in a while. Use them to ship packing peanuts. Seriously.

It'd be a good excuse to have a few singles floating around (thats what I think my Meadeville car will end up doing, since it's a 4 door car too). Having oddball paint schemes in that service would make sense too.

They'd still look good sitting in that splendid freight yard of yours being shuffled back and forth by switchers, even if they don't run in a consist around the layout.

Thanks!  Not sure how many I would get.  I have a pair of 60' high density auto parts cars it could go with.  Not sure which would be more appropriate; the 4-door or 8-door.  I love the early CR 4-door with mis-matched doors, but that 8-door with the ginormous can openers is also very hawt...
