ESM XIH paint/print test shots (pics)

The first draft of the painting/printing test shots arrived yesterday.  It appears there are some issues to address, which unfortunately will delay the cars another month.  Here are some sneak peaks.

These are the three PC&F New Haven SoM cars.  Different capy data along with different reporting marks.  The Old Glory Red on the SoM schemes is too dark because it is painted over the blue.  It looks similar to all the N scale SoM models that have been released to date, but it is noticeable when compared to the BAR repaint.  Hopefully that can be addressed, along with some other points.  I now see why this scheme has been such a nightmare in the past to produce.

This is the first road number of the BAR repaint.

This is the first road number of the NH repaint.

The above are three of the four schemes being released in the first run.  As an extra treat, following are two of the second run schemes partially assembled.   The Magor 1950 SoM scheme for the BAR purists ...

... and the patch job for the Conrail enthusiasts.

I may have to order a couple of the PC paint-outs too - they will make fun transfer cars - heavily weathered, of course!

So apparently by 1979 that CR car was whitelined...  Although I model 1980, I'm not so hardcore as to pass up such a sexy model.  It will find a home, lightly faded with an aibrush and with ACI labels, on the Juniata Division.

I'm also probably in for a BAR 1950 scheme for my 1956 PRR roster.  These cars show up pretty frequently in photos of the Pennsy during the 50s, and would make a nice change of pace from my otherwise drab boxcar red fleet.  Bryan, which of the NYNH&H schemes is appropriate for 1956, and would NH be more appropriate on Pennsy than BAR?  Thanks!

Dave, you've found a pic of this specific car whitelined?  The pic I have of the car is when it was still in service, but I don't know the date.  It's the only model so far that will be released without a roofwalk.

I'm still looking for additional pics of cars with CR reporting marks and/or graphics, so I can produce more than this one CR car.  I have pics of XIH cars from the CR era with CR stenciling, but they appear to be cars from the predecessor roads (such as the NH block with a PC green door and CR consolidated stencils) so I will be releasing them under the predecessor item numbers.

Thanks!

The SoMs traveled all over the place, and the BAR SoM blue-end schemes lasted into the 1980s.  The PC&F BAR 1953 SoM scheme is the only car from the first release that I didn't picture, but that scheme is good for 1956 as well as the Magor BAR 1950 and the PC&F NH 1953 SoM schemes above.  The two repaints are too late for you, as are any BAR SoM schemes with blue ends and/or billboard reporting marks (they are coming later).  However, both the red BAR repaint and the SoM blue-end schemes would be appropriate for Conrail circa 1980, and many still retained their roofwalks even at that late date.  Lots of rust though, definitely not pristine cars by then.

PC car = Smokin' Hot

That's actually the CR car.  The PC car will be in the second release along with it.  It looks similar but has a smaller herald, roofwalk, NYC-style capy data and some other notable differences as well.  The CR car pictured above is missing only the brakewheel and platform, so what you see pretty much is what will be produced.

The second release will follow two or three months after the first release.

Can't help you with any other CR road numbers.  Haven't seen any.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that last number being a nine.
