My goodness. Someone changes _to_ N scale and it's a huge celebration. Someone changes _from_ N scale and its all...

Well it's a (mostly) N scale forum...  :D

It's Ian we stopped asking that years ago...  :P

all kidding aside I'm excited to see Ian's HO version of the NS... anything to inspire modeling no matter the scale...

This is what Stewart is doing in HO:

They are even supposed to be coming with the MU equipment, so all I would need to do would be to put on that funky shade over the front headlight, find that weird horn, and paint out the Tarwheel and do the stripe on the cab side.

I'm not up on my Baldwins, but is the AS416 pictured A-1-A? Looks like a six axle, but not by that designation.

HO has GP40-2W's
HO has C630M's
HO has accurate CP C424's
HO has MIL and/or HS bulkhead flats
HO has CP EV vans
HO has LRC's

Why am I in N? Apparently I'm a masochist...

Hehe,

Likewise in the past 5 yrs or so,

HO has HH SD40-2 (Athearn)
HO has HH SD45
HO has HH GP30
HO has HH U30B
HO has U30C
HO has HH C630
HO has HH C628
HO has N&W Class A 2-6-6-4
HO has N&W H2a hopper in plastic
and a crap load of other stuff that would make this aspect simpler (Cannon, a wide assortment of diesel horns compared to N, etc).

I prefer the space dynamics of N scale though.

It is a six axle, but the middle axles on the trucks are unpowered to go with the weight restrictions on Norfolk Southern's by then ancient and extremely light track.

That one's gotta hurt.

A-1-A's are neat. Up here, CN had H12-64's that, to me, have the same misleading designation... AS416 would lead one to think four axle trucks, not A-1-A. H12-64 leads one to think one four and one six axle (like the CPA16-5 actually had, though the rear was A-1-A).

Don't forget the Y6b, Y3s, and the class J

One of the BLI flyers I have does mention bringing the H2a to N though. It looks like they'd rather re-paint the H2a for other roads though.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

N already has a good J and a good Y3. I have a Rivarossi Y6b but a "new tech" one might be cool.

The original PCM announcement in what? 2005? included the H2a. The H2a in HO is in its second release, with more N&W, along with Wabash (the Wabash are conceivably close, if they represent the ex-N&W H3s that Wab bought from N&W) and a bunch of foobs.

2005. They are on BLI's canceled products page (that I just now found)

I know all too much about it. I reserved them immediately when they were announced ...

But I'm not bitter ... :-X

I think the were crazy to cancell these.  Would have been great sellers with all the various roadnames they could have used.  I had 3 sets on order before they were cancelled.  I truly believe that aside from the various E units and rhe PA, I don't expect much N scale from PCM or whatever they call themselves now.  It's there loss now to do the M1 and others.  Can't say they are the only ones - Walthers need to step up to the plate with new and reruns on their N products.
