Kootenay layout on youtube

A couple of videos of a local layout with a double mushroom care of Mark Dance. Very neat to operate with the odd lashups CP used throughout the early 1970s. The Nakusp/Roseberry barge service with its isolated location is particularly enticing. Hope the link works...

Glad the link worked !!! Beautifull , will there be a video soon showing long CP train going over some of the magnificient bridges ?
How large is the layout , you say a 2 cars garage , but is it full or one bay still used by a car ?
Thanks a lot for showing us these videos !   8)
Thanks ,
Louis

Three years in planning? From what I saw, well worth it, especially the Slocan Barge... novel concept. Gonna grab my Crow and Kettle book and watch the video again to check his work  :D

Thanks for the link, would love to see some more as it progresses.

Somewhere on  my box i have the LDSIG article that would tell me the dimensions - I'll have to dig them out. It isn't huge but it was comfy with eight operators the one time I visited.  One other item I am interested in is the narrow aperture formed by the valances around Farron Summit. I think it is under  a foot  but because of the height and the lighting it has a different feel than the rest of the deck. Mark has done a really good job of "opening up" the deck on the  other side of the valence and I tend to think it lends more depth while at the same time conveying the isolation of Farron. Hopefully he'll make a video when the scenery goes in at this location.

Looks like a great layout in the making, thanks for the link.

That line is close to home for me: my brother-in-law lives in Slocan, and my mother was born in Rossland and grew up in Trail (Tadnac) while her dad worked at the Cominco smelter.  I remember many a summer in the late 60's heading up that way for holiday.  We'd stay in Trail for a few days (I spent most of the time watching CP switch the smelter) then head up to Christina Lake.   Good times.

I see Mark has updated his youtube account to include some operating shots of the layout. There is a rail barge video as well. Enjoy!

Its looking like a very nice layout. I've been following the videos and the "finished" scene is a true tribute to what scenery:train can be accomplished in N. Wish it was C55.
