PRR trailer color question

Con-Cor had a 40' PRR TruckTrain trailer that looked brownish and in this scheme that is shown of a HO model .

I think I have heard that the brown color was wrong . Is that true , and if so how far fetched is the model .

The lettering looks good.  Most photos I've seen have the trailer in a much redder color.  Of course, that's like asking the proper tuscan red for their passenger cars.  Colors range all over the place and in real life, depending on who painted, repainted, repaired, built and type of paint were all over the place.  I would weather the hell out of that trailer and it would look O.K.

Here is the actual Con-Cor model in question . This is a good enough color ( Looks roof brown or UPS brown ) and lettering ?

Wow , and I thought these were totally unacceptable . I guess I will then re-wheel them and add mud flaps and stick them someplace . Thanks .

Those look on the dark side. 8)

I'm not an SPF but I think the color should be more like this:

If we could get Atlas to do the 40 footers in that scheme no darker than they did the pups we would have something much better then .

I will have to start a thread over there .

Some good stuff from Jerry:

Yeah , I think thats who put the color bug in my ear . Funny that with all the research into this by him , and I have put in some of my own on this recently , that a color shot of a 40' TrucTrain trailer in the scheme in question eludes . This TrucTrain was no small event , I would think color photos would be easy to find . Whats up with that ?

The December 2008 edition of the PRRT&HS had an article on them but the only prototype photo is a B&W.  There are a couple of color photos of HO models showing a color with a lot more red than brown.
