The disappearance of detail parts, particularly the cast ones, is definitely a huge concern for prototype modellers. Here in Canada we are so fortunate to have Miniatures by Eric, who has been in business for a long time and supplies us with much of what Canadian modellers need. The philosophy "grab 'em while you can" definitely applies here!
There do not seem to be very many people into soft metal casting these days which is a pity as someone needs to pick up the Sunrise line - those parts were obviously as valuable to U.S. modellers as Eric's are to Canadians. The Sunrise MU hoses were great because they could be bent into any position, even after painting, and when painted Floquil Grimy Black they looked exactly like a rubber hose. The horns are probably the biggest loss - there is no other way to make those other than going the injection-moulded plastic route, which would likely not be viable for something that small on its own.
