Is that a good price on the tannery complex? I'm kinda tempted.

Haven't seen it lower for new in the box.  Is this fo rthe new layout, or the onetrak module?

Walthers had it for a similar price earlier this year. I inquired on one of the web forums as to opinions of those who may have purchased and built the product.

The answers I got to my question were the structure is comprised on the modulars and as such, require a lot of work to prepare the pieces for assembly. What I was told was it's a good price for the details that come with the structures that can be used in other endeavors.

That was one or two people's opinion. Based on that, I deferred. You on the other hand may not be deterred by doing the extra filing, trimming and so on to make the building come together.

I picked one up when Walthers had their sale on them.  I want to say I paid $60, but it could have been that same price.  I had a thread about hobby shops matching the flier price.  I wonder if that's still around.

Cool, I couldn't remember the price on that previous sale.

This would just be for general "stock".

Ed I picked it up last year on the Walthers sale for 59.98, probably the same sale as Jason did. But 69.00 is still a good price and it has a lot of possibilitys for bashing. They do take some work to make the wall sections to mate up but worth it thow

Does the kit include details like the roof vents and other scenery bits?  I still have a hard time justifying $50 or $60 for something that doesn't move under its own power...

One small kit these days is $20 or more these days. With the possibilities and the number of buildings to be made in either the leather or dairy kits, I think it is well worth the sale price.

This summer, picked up a baggie of loose metal castings detail parts in the sale bin at Gilbert's in Gettysburg for $10. Bag had to weigh a good pound. Use that as comparison.

No matter how you look at it, it is a good deal. There are some unique parts in the kit but 95% of it is available seprately in the modular packages. You don't realize the value of the kit till you get one and open it. There are close to 50 sprues of parts in the kit. I opened mine up to check it out and can't figure out how to fit it all back in the box.

Comes with roof mount water tanks, storage tanks, various vents and AC units, smoke stack, and gobs of wall sections.

That said, I retract my statement...  That is a good deal.

Now they just need to come out with some different designs for the modulars themselves.

I think it's a rock'in deal.

I bought two of the tanneries and two of the dairy complexes.

For the $70 or so, you can beat'em.
