I was thinking the same thing. The other nice thing is the drawbars... I need a long one for a project, now I don't have to buy a whole tender!

Wonder the driver size of that 2-6-6-2 , possible bash to a full valve gear 0-6-0 .

I don't know about powering or boiler fit , but that 2-6-6-2 full valve gear 3 axle engine set has possibilities as a better looker under a 0-6-0 boiler .

I ordered a front 2-6-6-2 engine to play with under a 0-6-0 , and I get a pilot truck for another project .

If you want it, get it now. I have an uneasy feeling that this parts thing is temporary, a move to clear the shelves of a nagging onesy-twosy inventory they kept for warranty support. My edu-guess is they're shutting down warranty repair as part of a larger business strategy which includes the discontinuing of the "lifetime" warranty. We already know that the B'mann decision-makers have decreed that warranty obligations are served when an older, unrepairable model is replaced by "just anything" they happen to have a surplus of in the warehouse.

I was wondering about this myself. In some photos, the parts look like they were hacked out of a finished product (look at the wires on some of the motors as an example).
 


Plus, the assortment of parts across models is highly variable--a bell here, a wheelset there...

From what I remember, almost all Bachmann parts come from damaged in shipment / DOA loco's. I have bought tender trucks before and they were individually packaged with a part number tag in them. They have had around 50 or so parts in various scales on the page listing for over a year now. They just expanded the N scale parts listing to the 200+ seen now. I'm sure the other scales will be expanded soon.

Why is the first reaction, "Gloom and doom"? There have been many asking Bachmann for parts support for years. There is usually a topic on it on their forums within the first page constantly. It was always hard to get through to the right person at Bachmann to get the part you needed. Now with the web page, you have a picture and and an order button. The same person can handle all the parts orders and chances are it is less work for them to do it this way and we will have a better chance getting the right things.
