source for pink foam sheets

If I was able to find it in Phoenix, it should be found anywhere.  I had to call a couple independent building supply places to locate 2" and 1/2".

Now I can get it anywhere but it's coming pre-notched for installation which kind of sucks.

When I was on the hunt for foam last winter I never saw 4x8 sheets, only 2x8. I ended up finding them at the HD outside College Park (US 1 and I-495).

Try a roofing supply place. That is where we find it here in the Bay Area. Everyday hardware/building suppliers don't seem to carry it for whatever reason.

I searched the 2x2x8 and it's available at Catonsville, Columbia etc. etc. etc....  Note that it does have the T/G edge, but you just cut that off or work around it.

My Lowes has blue 1-1/2" thick 2'x8' Dow wallmate with tongues on 2 sides. My Home Depot has pink 4x8 Owens Corning sheets in 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", 2", and thicker I believe.

I'm with Lee, get the 2*8's and just peice them together. I did the same for the BYR. 4*8 would be a b!+ch to cut effectively.

From a too-experienced serious D-I-Y'ers perspective...

H-D tends to use regional stocking and ordering plans. If you can't find it in your nearby H-D, then you're highly unlikely to find it at others in the area. Lowe's does per-store stock planning. Example was a project last weekend that, coincidentally, also required a sheet of 2" foam. First (and closest) Lowe's we went to stocked none of the half-dozen major items on our list. They weren't out, the stuff just wasn't in their floorplan. We left empty-handed. Second Lowe's had everything on the list, and we were in and out in 20 minutes.

I was not.  I was talking about direct shipping, not store-to-store shipping.  If you're willing to pay for shipping, they'll ship it anywhere.  You can order them from the HD website.  It's not as if the shipping cost would be exorbitant - they are bulky but light.  If you can get them to ship store-to-store, it's a bonus - but shouldn't be expected.

Just Monday, Pikesville Lumber delivered a load of blue square edge 4 x 8 sheets in 2 inch and 1 inch for me. Unfortunately it's all installed and concrete was poured over it as of today.

thanks for the info.  i think i'm going to just use plywood and homasote as the subroadbed.  both are easily obtained and the homasote will hold track spikes.
