2010: The Year of the Gondola

I declare 2010 the Year of the Gondola

This will involve the development (and delivery) of the following:

- the 65' version of the Thrall Gon from Atlas [these are the onese delivered in the SP Sunset logo, right?]

- A typical post 1960 fishbelly side, 52/53' mill gon - in standard and corrugated side versions

- Re-release of the LBF corrugated side 65' mill gon by somebody

- At least one post 1960's PRR/PC/CR gondola

A fishbelly gon would be a great idea, but I'd shoot for a mid/late 50's prototype.

Not that I would complain with an upgraded Atlas version, but there's something out there already....

I would like to see the one Tangent is releasing in HO.  It is proto for the Pennsy (G31B), Wabash, and Southern Pacific according to Tangent.  It was first built in the early 50's and lasted into the early 90's.  This would work for a lot of folks, including me.  Thanks.

Hey, I'd take a release of the LBF gon too - but the Atlas car is so nice and if you start looking closely at lowly gons you can see how distinctive these cars are.

BTW, the LBF smooth side gon - I am told - is a kitbashed LBF 52' gon - and has other errors (mirrored ladders on both sides) - and could probably be improved upon.

The corrugated side car has a very specific prototype though.

Actually from 1948 according to tangent. And, if Wabash, this means at a minimum N&W too.

I'm sure BLMA's top designer is hard at work copying the Tangent model already.  He's finished copying the covered hopper.  Shouldn't be too long of a wait.

Actually, I don't believe that it's much of a secret that BLMA and Tangent have worked together on the PS-4000.

I would preferd the year of the modern flat car. I would love to get some of those Atlas 89' and bulkhead flats in  N-scale.

I would really like a couple of the N&W/C&O battleship gons just because they are so different looking.

yes -  BN/BNSF has greenville gons similar to the LBF model with high ends...

There are others for sure too...
