Man it was a long time ago. I think when I got a bike of my own it was a GT pro performer and the frames looked similar. I ditched the mag wheels and got peregrine spokes.  I still roll GT's even now I have one hanging on the wall, GT i-drive 1.0:


The clodbuster had 2 motors so the batteries went quick. I made one big battery out of 28 cells to fit the whole chassis. Just charged it 4 times.

Nice bike. Just last year I bought an '08 Utopia (Gary Fisher). It's a Hyrbid since I do alot of street riding and still hit some trails. Not a stump jumper but for my class of riding it does great. I traded in the Tamiya stuff for an HPI RS4 and some tanks

Very cool that you sound back on task.  I hope you can stay engaged with this.  The L&HR was a very cool prototype, but obscure enough that you're staking out new territory in N.  As a modeler, the rolling stock availabity issue should be a challenge to action rather than a barrier.  My Pennsy steam availability challenge may not be as daunting as yours may be, but it made me a better modeler for having faced it head-on rather than retreating back to HO.

Wow, this topic has been all over the place; trains, RC cars, bikes, and now VW's.

Chris, that Beetle looks nice. My wifes Jetta GLI 1.8T is off to the paint shop as some woman decided to use it as a parking stop when turning around in a driveway last Friday. Caved in the door, busted the mirror.

Although the trend is back to electric finally. I am seeing a couple of 1/8 scales a week that are being converted to electric at the shop. I'm still into RC pretty deep, I have 3 1/8 P909 bodies setting on the work bench right now for Joel Johnson to run at the onroad Nat's.

SO did you ever come to a resolution on th egrade issues that are up-thread?

sort of - i thought i had it together, but i was just looking at an old plan that i think i can use to make better use of the space and keep the grades mostly hidden. 

i have been trying to stack the main town, Warwick, above the staging.  if i move Warwick to a different wall, i will be able to shift the grades, keeping them mostly hidden and making better use of the space for scenery.

the area above staging can be reduced from 18" wide to 8-10" wide, opening up the staging for fiddle work.  having an area that is 8-10" wide will allow for scenery.

you might think everything looks good on paper, and then you try to build it and find you don't like it.  that's where i am right now.  i put in some subroadbed and then realized it just wasn't gonna work the way i was hoping.

This has happened to me more than once . I have rebuilt my layout enough times now that you have claim on the "waffle" title .. but thats part of the fun .. try it .. see how it works .. planning is fine .. but don't get paralisys by analisys

4x8 sheets. You can have them cut there for free (or very cheap) to fit into your car. I get them home in my VW shown above.

Have you set up boards that show the actual grade being used? I kind of hate to have grades, but for me I want a layout to look operational while I just kick back and run trains round and round. If I had grades the train would keep speeding up and slowing down and I'd hate that. I understand you are more into operations, but even then your whole layout is on a grade. What if you lowered the upper level so that there was only about 1 or 2" clearance. Then have the whole staging yard slide out on drawer tracks. This way height wouldn't be a problem and grades could be less.

Just an idea. Lots of Euro layout use sliding tables for various thing.
