I see the remnants of a Tamiya Blackfoot (one of the greatest R/C legacies of all time!).

i did clean things up - i had to move the R/C stuff out of reach of the 2 foot monster.  the other crap is tools and there are several boxes of HO trains and scenery materials.  there is also my wife's craft stuff that was displaced from the alcove.  that needs a new home, and i have just the place for that in the shed...

An even better idea for the wife's craft stuff - get her some matching clear plastic bins with lids (I've been getting some clear ones with green locks at Target), ask her to sort her stuff into them, and then add a shelf unit on the side of your plan that faces into household space where seh can keep them.  Helps you hide layout stuff, helps her organize her crafts stuff, and promotes both hobbies.

an idea very much like that was shot down.  i do have an alternate plan for her.  i just need some time to take care of it.  and of course beer.

things are starting to take shape.  here's a rough layout of the grades.  the grade coming down from Warwick (on the right) is not included.  i'll have to play with the final height of Warwick - right now it's at 7.5" but i might drop it to 6.5" to reduce the grade.  in the far right corner, the grade leads up to the Sterling Hill mine via the Ogdensburg Branch.  not exactly prototypical, but it will serve my purposes.

Would it make more sense to have the Ogdensburg Branch go to the left hand corner?  You're going from a stiff grade to an even stiffer one going the way you've got it.  Since you're already diverting from proto, maybe make it a switchback to add some operating glee?

the grade will actually start along the left hand wall, i just didn't rough it out.  the diversion from proto is that it climbs up and then drops down to the mine.  operating glee will take place in the town along the left wall.  i will not be proto, but it will be interesting.

so the termite inspection is taking place tomorrow.  i have to move a ton of crap so the guy can get into the 2 storage areas - i'm sure he won't like having to duck under things, but that's life.  if we don't drop the $120 every year, it will cost $1000+ to have them come out and deal with them.  annual inspections are a must since out house was once the scene of a nasty termite/homeowner battle.  i gutted my office to replace framing that was reduced to shreds.  glad the previous owners paid for the removal!

i won't tell you i made an RC10 fanboy cry one day.  he thought he was going to win the final heat and i took the last jump at full throttle but he eased off to keep from crashing in the 120 degree curve after the jump.  i landed on his car and killed his A arms and busted both shock towers.  my car was fine and i ended up winning.  i used some of the winnings to pay for his damages.  the good old days.

i am considering buying an RC10B4.  not sure i want to have yet another hobby though.

I had my JrX2 when they first came out. My buddies RC10 was old with that gold aluminum frame. It was like a space ship vs. a cap gun.

There have been regular adverts for Fast Tracks turnouts on ebay the last month or so.  I have a permanent search dialed in for n scale code 55 track, and they pop up periodically.  The guy selling them appears to have decided to sell a bunch of tunrouts to pay off the kit purchase price.
