That's cool. I've always loved them in E-L colors but I don't think I've ever seen one in Erie. 8)

C'mon, Ed.  Even you have to admit that an E-unit looks better in Erie colors than in that Conrail scheme.

By the way, they did a nice job of restoring the porthole windows, which were missing when owned by Conrail.  Also, the now-required ditch lights are installed in an interesting manner over the anti-climber.

I'm in agreement on the ditch lights on older locos.  Ruins the looks.  I consider these like an antique automobile.  Redo them as they were and drop the Fed rules for ditchlights.

looks like it happened before 76 and after 61.

I didn't even notice the port holes...

Yeah I'd have to say EL did it, but don't know why. I'm thinking it was to move the lettering up into the stripe. They all seem to be missing port holes after the repaint except for 814:

Please correct me if appropriate, but I think the 4020 is ex-PRR. The 833 was formerly CR 4022 (no nose lift rings): http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/pictures/8131/CR4022sjb.jpg

The 833 was stored in Binghamton over the winter of 2007/08. Imagine how disappointed I was to learn that it had gone back to Port Jervis on the point of a special move (over Starucca Viaduct!) on a sunny Saturday!

Hadn't noticed this before but is the bug shield over the headlight just
an Erie thing or did other railroads do this also?
