I like that plan A LOT. Again the staging and operations are great (for the size). My only change would be to eliminate the area between the backdrop B and the wall, extending the upper and lower wall runs. You could even throw that Odgensburg branch off the right vert wall like your L&H plan. Keeps the center of the room open while providing the other things you want.

I hate you.... I had one done using GIMP when I went to save it...it didn't merge the layers and it came out crappy. I wish I had photoshop it would take me ten minutes. Let me see what I can dig up...again!

how much space should i have for the lower staging - is 6 inches enough for a main and 6 tracks of staging?  seems kinda tight - but it's still better than Lee's Staging of Doom.

I'd venture:

18" - 24" along the South and East walls (picture orientation respectively)
12" - 18" along the North and West walls (picture orientation respectively)

Just think you could put a nice leather chair in there a humidor and a scotch cabinet too!

East Wall has potential for a 4 or 5 track yard with small servicing facility!

Chances are ... nothing gets built

one of the tweaks was adding a small yard where the fast food joints are in the plan - that's wasted space

here's the basic idea:



the main town with a yard is Warwick, NY
the second town would be a composite of several locations along the line.

each wall would be a scene with a visual block such as trees or a hill to isolate the view.  this would help the layout look larger and make the trains seem longer - even at 12 cars long, that should be enough to limit seeing the entire train within a scene.

of course, my wife booked an appointment this afternoon to look at a house about a mile away.  it has a two story outbuilding with water, heat, and A/C - it was the office of an electrical company that was run out of the guy's house.

i have started two layouts since joining up here - the Panhandle and the LHR - just because you haven't come over to see them doesn't mean i haven't done anything.  right now i have an 8' section left from the LHR that wasn't torn out.
