So it would seem that it's not just IM that has fit and finish problems with their locomotives. From pictures and first hand accounts on the A-Board, it seems the C40-8W has given Atlas a black eye. Very unexpected.

I saw the photos and it does look pretty bad.  I figure it's probably an assembly issue of some kind, hopefully.

I have been on the fence about this model...I'll eventually get a CSX CW for sure, and probably either an ATSF or BNSF Silver Warbonnet.  But it looks like I may wait until the next release to see how this plays out.

unfortunately not...
...will post more when I did figure out what can be changed so the cab will fit the battery boxes/sill propperly.

I have two of them .. they both have the gap .. one worse than the other. I won't be getting more. It's too bad.

Now, it looks like there is a little flashing inside the cab, that could be removed. I did, and it seemed to improve it a bit  ..  but it almost looks like tha cab is slightly too long, or sill molding is too  short ..

Wow...after so many people waited for someone to blow Botchmann right out of the water on this model, this is very unfortunate.  ???

Even with this small defect they still blow the Bachman ones away. The cab gap is more visible on the lighter color units like UP, ATSF and Conrail units though, Its not as visible on my CSX units. They run great to.

  What about the enormous gap between the sill and fuel tank? (The one you can see the motor through!) :(  For what was paid for these things they really shouldn't be that way.
