Hi Bill,
I went and looked at a J tender
there are solder pads
they are numbered just like the heavy Mountain so any
links about the Heavy also apply to the J
the pads are numbered 8,1,2,4,5,6,7.
the jumpers connect 8,1 and 2
and connect 4,5,and 6 with 7 not jumpered.
the two jumpers must be left and right
there is a DCC specification that comforms
to the pad numbers, If that is not enough I'll hunt for the
color wires that conform to those numbers.
look for Heavy Mountain install information also
is mainly what I am saying.

1 motor - orange
2 reverse light - yellow
4 power left - black
5 motor - grey
6 forward light - white
7 light common -blue
8 power light - red ( I think light = right)
check the paperwork that comes with the loco.
basicly solder the decoder leads to the numbered pads
be careful because the first pad is 8 followed by 1 ....
