Ztrains.com: Grassinator News
May 5, 2009

As many of you know the negative ion generator used in my plans for the Grassinator is no longer available from Electronic Goldmine here in the US. I've done a bit of poking around and found an electronics dealer in Australia, Oatley Electronics, that sells what may be a very acceptable substitute negative ion generator.

I've swapped a few emails with them and they're going to send me some samples of their negative ion generators to test for static grass application.

I'll post the results up on Ztrains.com just as soon as these units arrive from Australia.

You'd think with the land rush to EG for these after your article and the Joe Fugate article that they would do all they could to keep these on the shelves.

...Richard Cooke too, that's where I first saw this, then I spoke with Joe Fugate about the design.

Maybe EG is purely the kind of place that buys close-outs in bulk... it seems that way. Not a bad thing but tough to rely on for future purchases.

I got the sense that this Australian electronics dealer plans to keep these in stock from this point on.

I also built one, and works great. As I have a double decked layout, I added in an elbow and mine is L-shaped to get into the lower level. I now have to stop myself from trying to cover the whole layout in grass.
