I got satellite radio and love it.  I can always change to my local channels.  Also got a GPS for Xmas and love it.  Returning home from the last train show at Timonium it informed me that there was traffic ahead and sure enough everything slowed to a stop.

Would have been even better if the GPS unit had warned you a little more in advance, so that you could have detoured and not lost significant time.  ;)

I think a PDF owes Richie money.

With what Tom said, the CHWHS has had a printed publication for 30 years that deals with the history.  Now they are trying to suppliment that with a modeling section.  To make a printed publication that contained only three articles would be senseless, even if those three articles were more interesting than one twelve months worth of two N scale magazines.

grab something to read while perched upon the "throne"...

Laptop & wireless = happy reading  ;D

Wireless tablet
and comfy recliner, paradise without a hot CPU  in your lap...

I seem to get plenty of warning from MSN Traffic, unlike the srvice I had, made the decision to ditch XM Nav-Traffic easy.  Also took the opportunity to drop XM.  The new Sirius replacement channels cost more per month pr receivr.  For $3US per receiver per month, you now get less tunes, more chatter/banter/patter and the end of free internet access unless you bought a years service from a company clearly headed for bankrupcy court...

Dave:

When you on the  BW Parkway and no exit for awhile, it's kind of hard to avoid the traffic 8)

While print content is starting to disappear faster and faster, I can see Ritchie's point about wanting it in print so he can touch it look at it, wipe with it if he wants. I spend a;ll day in front of a computer screen and many times I just wanna get away from it to read or research, but I see the futuer and I am completely addicted to online info. It is completely changing the way the world gets information and to some extent inteerprets it. The political debate on the pro's and con's is not for this forum, but the change is happening. What a way to go green.....or save green.

Satellite radio is awesome!!!!

I like printed material for many things...yet others I much prefer digital...regardless, its quite easy to see what is happening.

Print will survive only for certain niche things that will support it and those will be very few, the cost to print will increase and the cost for digital distribution will decrease.

You do the math.

I like my GPS...

Actually, with all my Big Brother paranoia, I'm not sure I want to have a device in my car that lets "Them" know where I am...
It really is kind of orwellian if you think about it...

Only if the device can "phone home" and they have matched you with your device.

Most GPS devices are just receivers.

There's already some sort of GPS built into cell phones, no?  Location, name, number, billing address...  Eep!

Right now, a whole slew of "popular" magazines (People is one) are coming out on a very cheap payment(like 10 cents an issue) on the web. Their long-term plan is to first; stop all home subscription sales. Handling and mailing costs are too high to be profitable. Second; Make the news-stand copies MUCH more exspensive and lower the content and page count(save money on printing, paper and shipping) and reduce the amount of paper waste in the trash stream. Over a dozen Hurst newspapers are "web-only" right now, and that number is expected to triple by the end of the year. Three formerly "defunct" motorcycle magazines have come back as "free-ezines" with tons of pop-ups to pay the bills. Any one of them is better than what is printed right now. On the web, they can show how you can over-ride emmissions crap(which the EPA admits motorcycles contribute so little emmissions to the air, it's something like .003%) when in print, and mailed would be subject to EPA fines and scanctions(censorship). So magazines and newspapers are probably not long for this world. As for storage, have you heard of an external storage drive? I got a 500 Gigabyte one for $63. 1 Terrabyte models are available for $120-150. It's nice to have Firewire for faster transfer rate, but USB 2.2 is as fast as 90% of internal hard drives. My external is about the size of a normal book, doesn't use any electricity when not in use, and I can take it with me to work and plug it in there.

"And, just so you will know... Atlas... none.  Trainboard... none."

I've already posted on A-Board that's bogus.  I'll leave it at that here.
