The Chessie Steam Special was my introduction to big time steam. It will always hold a special spot in my memory banks. But it looked god-awful in that tacky paint (which is pretty crudely rendered in that painting, btw...). Fortunately, my initiation to steam locomotion in general took place at Strasburg several years earlier, so I knew what God intended steam engines to look like...
