Isn't the WM flat at the museum equipped with some kind of strange roller bearing trucks?
I'd be interested in one also.

Isn't that what's called a well car or well flat.  Has the whole in the middle for tall materials like tank heads and other oversized loads.  Interesting car. 
These were not the same as modern day well flats, as they were not designed to carry containers.

I thought it was supposed to be aluminum with a different road number...  and ride higher off the trucks.

The WM car at the B&O was used for the many heavy and hi/wide equipment moves that ran out of Port Covington.  Recall that the WM could get out of Tidewater Baltimore without going through any urban tunnels... Unlike its surviving competitors...  If CSX had kept Port Covington, and the rest of the WM, there'd be double stacks going west out of Baltimore...

Ohh, dem well cars! Back in the early 1960's, when I first went to work for the PRR, Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS, was building a passel of nuclear subs for the Navy. These all had a large diameter nose that was rolled out of a single sheet of steel and loads at an angle on a well car. Since welding to the nose would change the properties of the metal, it was strictly a wood block and brace job. The only mill capable of rolling these was Lukens Steel in Coatesville, PA, a "fair piece" as they say, from Pascagoula. About half my day was taken up telling Ingalls where the car had been "set off to adjust load". Hell, I had to look up many of these sidings, fortunately there was a CT1000 in the PRR New Orleans office.

Ingalls still building ships for the navy.  Mainly cruisers and amphibious ships.  Don't do any nuclear work anymore as far as I know.

Don't think anyone has done this type of car in N before.  Quite teasing and tell us what road names will be available.

It's a C&O class F9 well car.  Only six in the series.  Two were sold to NYC, which eventually were passed down to CR.  The other four lasted at least into the Chessie era.  I don't know if they made it to CSX (either the Chessie/CR) or NS (CR).

Gotta get the G26 to market first before even thinking about starting on this one.

I can't tell you how much I love the development of body mount integrated couplers.  What a leap forward for N Scale!

There were over 1,600 of them and they weren't in captive service, so it would seem to me that they traveled N&W rails regularly.

RTR only I'm afraid.  But you never know what variations and roadnames will surface in the future if these are successful.
