This is a new PWM controller that is being developed by Eishindo. And this is with their current drive type; not long from now they will have a third-generation mechanism with a worm drive, which means they'll run even slower.

It sounds and looks like it's just firing a pulse of power in rapid succession to get it to move. It works, but it appears to be a very rapid stutter.
Still, pretty impressive for something so small.
