 Much left to do but it's time to get going on the N scale layout for awhile.

Also, you piqued my curiosity on the SBD's release of a Johnny Cash version of the Orange Blossom Special, as I don't ever remember hearing lyrics sung to the tune.  So, I looked it up and found this Johnny Cash medley of "Casey Jones" and the "Orange Blossom Special."  Who knew the Man in Black could play not just one but two harmonicas to cover the fiddle part of the song?

I have been adding details to some of the structures I built a while back.  Here is a freight station with freight and figures added.  This'll be on the next section of layout I scenic.  The freight could still use more weathering.

Had a productive week.... another piece of the Big Sky Blue consist was added - an "ex" Mail/baggagge...



Built for the Empire Builder this Mail-Baggage lasted but four years on the "big league" train before being replaced and sent to the Western Star and other trains.

As I highly doubt that any Mail cars got painted in BSB I nevertheless had the brass sides so I ignored common logic and built the car for my "Stampeder" extra. My theory is that there was a severe shortage of baggage cars so the GN quickly repainted one of these four now "ex" mail cars; sealed up the mail compartment and used it for a baggage and/or rebuilt it as a dorm. Note the inside plating over the mail windows.....



Foobie - welllllllllll.... kind of, but it looks ok to these middle aged eyes.....

Ran out of decals for any more BSB and until the LHS calls, I'm on passenger hold on that project so I turned to vans...... not Dodge Caravan's....... but CPR cabooses....



Couple of years ago I picked up four Roundhouse PRR cabooses for a whoopping $ 15.00 at a show. I just knew they'd come in handy....

Blocking up one window was easy with styrene and some puddy and the repaint was a simple task as well. I added brake wheels; grabs; markers and a crew; then decaled and weathered the cars and they make a very passable wooden CPR van....so far two have come out of the back shop with at least one more to go....









I miss the wave of the conductor... don't you !?

Hi Guys

Some pretty impressive work being done.  I'm not sure mine is good enough but got to start somewhere

I have been in a modelling slump of late and finding it real hard to model.

I have managed to do a little more on the ore dock mainly bulk cutting and staining.

I'm working on the bins and bin faces at present

I misread the plans and has required me to changed assemble process which means a headache has to do along with reworking some jigs and desiging some new ones

The loading door and access plate look great! I've been photographing some recently to do just what you've done. A bit of constructive criticism, the weather tunnel looks too stiff. All the ones I've seen around the Baltimore/Dc area are a padded design and are usually a bit torn up and ratty towards the bottom.

They're called "Dock Seals", and Google will bring up thousands of photos if you do a search for that.  Note they virtually always have some of high-visiblity tape along the vertical sides as well.  I've spent a lot of time on all sorts of warehouses and I've never seen one that was "ratty" at the bottom, but then I've never seen an in-use warehouse door that looked quite as beat up as yours, though I'm sure both doors in that bad of shape and seals that have seen better days (they're just a padded vinyl), are both out there.
