I have no interest in lights as I model the day time, but I did order a couple of the new Kato heavyweight trucks, they pick-up power just like a... Kato.

I model the daytime too....unless a custom paint job goes south then I model midnight to make myself feel better......they all look like a proffessional job in the dead of night ! ;D ;D ;D
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

No one has mentioned that RPO's are route specific. The U. S. Post Office had pretty stiff requirements for the service. If I recall mail space was paid for in terms of 15', 30', and 60' space in the car, depending on the volume of service. Only busier lines would have a full RPO. Some trains had more than one, but not very many.  Others would have a baggage/RPO combine, and this includes most branch lines and short lines. A full RPO would be of no use to me. And I suspect that the MT cars will come at a price that will cause me to cringe, at kitbashing, given my poor fine motor skills.

True Frank, But I thi nk it's cool to have these cars and baggage to model some of the mail trains that Pennsy used to have. I saw the Green Frog video and there were some interesting looking trains that came thru Ft. Wayne Crossing in the 50's and 60's.

I watched a NYC mail express once back in the sixties. What a sight. An FA and RS unit rather slowly hauling an endless string of RPO's, baggage cars, flexi-vans, express reefers, a couple of dirty streamlined coaches in the consist. As I watched, a fast passenger train overtook it and passed it. Unfortunately, I'm not modeling a mainline railroad. Might get an RPO for the connecting NYC train, though.
