Before 1946, Pullman Company operated the parlor cars on most railroads. The Feds forced Pullman to sell its cars to the railroads and lease them back. At that point, many railroads decided to operate the parlor cars themselves. The parlor cars I am familiar with, on the PRR, had single rotating armchairs on either side of the center aisle.  The PRR heavyweights had an interior that looked very much like a financiers' men's club.

Most parlor cars used on the NE Corridor also had a drawing room with a sofa seating three and an armchair.

Wasn't the 26-1 (26 chairs, 1 drawing room) the most common parlor.  One of my favorite is the PRR club series parlor lounge.

Joe said new trucks with improved sideframes. And I think I remember them saying correct wheel size when the story broke last year. I wonder if they'll try and light it up too?

I would think that is their idea. I would hope they have the battery powered lighting. That seems to be the wave of the future.

Andy, in N-scale, space for battery is at a premium. Jim Hinds (Richmond Controls) and I talked about this and his new ultra micro LED's to correctly light up Jim Conway's Aero-Trains nose lights(both white AND red lights). There is a new(very exspensive) battery technology being used in super-tech cell phones and similar electronics called "lithium-organic". They are quite powerful for their size, are extremly light weight, but right now have a very bad problem with bursting and causing a fire. Jim and I talked about the problems of running wires between cars and engines in N-scale also. He thinks "drawbars" with multi-conductors are more dependable and practicle, but everybody needs to play the same game on them. It's always something isn't it?

The owner of my LHS has seen the prototypes and says it's looking good for the lighting project - Jason's a very clever fellow at Rapido and if he says it will work; I'd lay a fiver on it..... ;D

IM is doing the battery power with the passenger cars. I saw the prototype at Trainfest. Basically the same as Rapido.

I don't do much in the way of passenger service, so I really don't have a dog in this fight.  But I personally don't like battery operated anythings, because I have a nasty tendency to forget to turn things off...

The most sensible thing would be to have some sort of rig that uses track power to keep the battery charged.  But then you'd have the whole wiper/friction thing to deal with again.

Same here. In fact, passenger trains are a passing interest for me (it all started with a J).
