Has anyone had any problems getting into the Atlas forum site this morning. I keep getting this message when trying to get in:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/forum/inc_header.asp, line 116"

Oh, so maybe I'm not banned? I thought it was an individual thing, since I'd gone after sootower for his unreality posts. Oh well, things happen.

Thats my guess , the last topic that was totally eradicated and IIRC so was a member and all his posts , they put the forum on its knees . Might be that to do such a through expunging there needs to be no extraneous traffic .

Ed, they let that thread get away fast.  Should have been shut down a few days ago.  A simple minor complaint about Rio Grande hobbies got into a shouting match for, as far as I can see, no reason whatsoever.

I was surprised Atlas didn't shut it down earlier.

Somebody sad bad things about RGH , somebody said good things about RGH , somebody said to the persons saying good things that they are always interjecting good comments for good comments sake , Somebody said this started at The Trainboard and was squashed there first and now stirring the pot at Atlas . I think it's all the stress of the Holidays , and everything else that has some nerves ripe for triggering . This RGH just was the vehicle to T-Bone those nerves in some . Kind of like the mouse traps loaded with ping pong balls in a room . Small spuds compared to flames of years past , but it got a bit nasty none the less .

I was away for most of November and early December, so I missed this, or am just too stupid and road-weary to recognize it. The latter is probably reality.

It went down right after I made a post. Maybe I killed it  :o .

The Atlas Forum, A place to ponder WTF is going on in the mods mind. They lock threads about other manufacturers, but they allow LHS/e-tailers that sell their products to be roasted and toasted. Only after name calling has ensued do they lock the thread.

I don;t think Frank or Pete killed anything on that thread. To be honesty the original post was made by somebody who was supposedly from the UK and was it was supposedly his first post. I find that highly suspect. It started out ok, but I knew it was going to go downhill eventually. It seems somebody was posting a RGH topic about every month with the same theme. Then a couple of people came out to defend them including one who I think lives in Atlanta or visits often. He said he could get from Downtown to Rio Grande in 30 minutes by car which is also BS. Then some guy named SooTower and another named Tom V? and it got pretty bad.

Personally I think somebody is trying to flame RGH. Those threads just have that feel to them.

The A-Board obviously has a conflicts of interest and they certainly don't apply their own rules with any consistancy, but their moderators don't overreact and shut threads down, which I appreciate even more today.

Plus their moderators don't go on other boards and take shots at it's members (at least I haven't witnessed it).
