I once decided that MT wants 2 dollars a coupler
and sometimes sells them for less.

it is a new truck and has an extra coupler on each truck
by my thinking they want 2 dollars for the truck
and 4 dollars for the two couplers.

I think 5 dollars a truck is more reasonable.

Do any of you really believe that they are charging that much for 20 trucks?  If you do I have some property for sale just off the coast I will be glad to sell ya!!!  As if none of you have ever written the wrong thing in a letter or email or post to a forum or Yahoo! Group.

Given the detail involved in the trucks they are a model unto themselves and the price $17.25 is well justified considering the extensive amount of detail that is found on them.  And if you check some of the online dealers I am sure that you will be able to find them for a lot less.

Now if you want to bust their chops over the overall price of models, well, go ahead.  As far as I know everything is still being made in the USA.  They could do like a lot of manufacturers and take the models overseas to be made and then we would have cheaper models... and a few more unemployeed in Talent, OR.  Most of us at least knows someone whose been affected by the loss of jobs overseas, and many of us complain about that very thing.  So why do we complain about a price when a product is made at home?

Let's not make a quality manufacturer the butt of jokes... they easily could close their doors and walk away, and that is something none of use really can afford.

I feel relatively sure an extra "1" crept into the price for 10 pair, but what's wrong with having a little fun over the error?

I compiled (or wrote) several tariffs for the Apalachicola Northern while working there. If you made a typo and it was filed with the ICC, it stuck for 30 days. As a result, you either so overpriced the traffic it went truck, or so underpriced it a huge volume moved at far below cost for the period. So, I learned to make damned sure the numbers were right!

That error sure is not stimulating demand.

It's obviously a misprint. They must have meant the 100-pair bulk pack.

I think a more reasonable comparison could be made with the Deluxe Innovations Coupler Mate. It is not a regular truck either. There's added structural detail (as with the logging truck) and it retails for $7.95 for one. A pair would retail for $15.90. Since the Coupler Mate only has one couple however, you have to add the cost of another pair of couplers (about $2.00 according to the reckoning on this thread) which brings the total for a pair of Coupler Mates to $17.90. A pair of logging trucks for $17.95 doesn't seem that far out of line to me. But then, I missed the whole thread about "the outrageous cost of Coupler Mates."

This is far different from a regular truck, it looks like there's quite a bit more assembly done here.

That said, I think these look absolutely ridiculous with those pizza cutters in them.

Yes , these are exquisitely detailed , far better than I first thought . I still ain't paying more than 10 bucks a pair , and I would want 10 pair . I guess I will just do without .
