Island Modelworks powered MP-54

[up1950s]

Powered by the TM-05 and using underbody parts supplied with the MP-54 kit . I found the flush windows way to hard to fit , so I use the MTL car top protectors as I did with the the other Island Modelworks kits . The glare on the windows is lighting reflection , not a defect .

 Next up are 4 P-54 , or is it MP-54 , or is it T-54 Ping Pongs using the trucks supplied in the kit as well as the underbody .

Lookin' good, Richie (up1950s). I don't remember the round side door windows, think they all still had the square ones when I left Long Island. Now you need to add the wooden third rail shoe beams on the trucks!    LIRR painted them red when brand new but they soon took on the grime color of the rest of the truck. Do you recall when they had the "ball" on the end opposite the "Dashing Dan" logo with the rebuild number in it? Must have caused confusion for operators as it was never the same as the car number!

3rdrail , your eyes are like a hawk . I had a dickens of a time finding a prototype match for the windows in the model  , but I came up with one shot , that then pointed me to MP-54D1 , of which there were 2 groups . Thats how I decaled , numbered and painted them . I am sure some shot will pop up with conflicting info , but I can prove 4851 to be good .

Nice.  Some questions about power:  Have you powered just one car of the train?  Is the TM-05 the correct length, or do you have to modify the length? 

Are you planning to build some of the MP70 double deckers?

All 4 of the MP-54's are powered with TM-05's .

The length of the wheelbase looks close enough for me , I didn't bother measuring because of the pleasing enough looks . The ends of the TN-05 are extended with the ends of the chassis/floor/step piece supplied with the kit . If you look over at Atlas's forum and do a search under " Island Modelworks " , all threads of all the cars I have built so far will be there including this MP-54 Powered conversion . If you click onto my Trainboard Album under my name below ( A new feature I populated just yesterday , and will still grow it ) there are photos of each LIRR Modelworks kit I have done so far , but little if any text .

Yes the MP-70's double deckers are finished in 2 schemes .
