Grrrrr, pulling my hair out.

So my kitbashed HH660 is sitting around for over a year. I had handrails on it, but the built into the etching battery box needed moved just a hair. So I pulled the rails off and adjusted the drawing. Finally got around to re-etching them a couple days ago. With them done and installed it was time to paint, did that yesterday. Crap I might just finish this thing. Today I spent a good 20 minutes trimming all decals needed, started with the biggest piece, the "diamond".

Same decals I have used before, same Micro Sol. Now I need to try Micro Set to remove it and give it another coat of paint cause my hard brushing has the paint rubbed off the louver below.

But wait!  If you act now I'll throw in a magic bottle of decal remover that will leave the decal intact and remove the surrounding paint.

This is after the decal was flooded with Micro Set (decal remover) All of this is about 10 min. after the decal was first applied. It won't budge.

So how do I remove Badger Accu Flex ?

That's weird.  I've applied Micro-Set on top of Accu-Flex hundreds of times.  It gets soft with a good soaking of Micro-Sol, but I never have any problems at all with the Set.

Accu-Flex removed rather readily with 91% alcohol.  Should just peel right off.

Chris , did you do that just to make me feel more adequate ? That decal must be as hard as a diamond , oh wait .... . All fun aside , that is sooooo sad .

I would try pinesol for removing the paint.  But when you go to scrub, do it with the shell submerged in a container of alchohol otherwise you can just end just end up swirling the paint into a nice goo.

Thanks. Some good news:

I was worried the paint would stick to the plastic, but 91% alcohol worked.

I have used Accuflex a bunch of times, you can even decal 1/2 hour later if you set the model next to a light bulb. For me the Accuflex is more bullet proof than solvent based paints.

When I re-paint I will shoot a scrap of something and test the decals on it first.

I could be taking photos of a finished model by now  :-\

Your models are construction and fabrication works of art . Its a shame to cover up the telling story with paint , no matter how good it comes out .

It makes me hiss....  you are sure you have the right stuff in those bottles?
ah what a pain.  do you think letting the paint cure a while longer will help?

this next part is said to make you feel better.
I have twice had to scrap out atlas/rr 0-8-0 frames that were near completion.

my first one went so well I thought they were easy....

I just recently painted the etched brass tender of my Erie B5 0-6-0 with this same bottle of paint, then decaled it about 45 min. later with the same bottle of Micro Sol. Came out perfect.

Possibly I sprayed it wrong somehow  ???  It now has a new coat of black and is lightly cooking in my etch exposing lights:
