Ebay Users Take Note

Taken from 'Homer at Bat', from season three of the Simpsons. Some here will remember this classic quote... kinda sums up eBay rules.

Montgomery Burns - "Now, Simpson, if I tilt my cap like this, it means the signal is a fake. But I can brush that off by rubbing my hands. To make you more alert, I will tap my belt buckle not once, not twice, but thrice!"

Until now, I forgot why I stopped buying on eBay...

As for the combined shipping.
The first few times after they changed it around I would e-mail the seller letting them know the auto invoice was wrong and they would send me a new invoice with a "I don't know why e-bay did that" or "it shouldn't be like that" note.  The problem is with the sellers who won't answer their e-mails or who give me a BS reason why it didn't combine shipping when their auction states that they will. This all started happening a couple months ago.

I hardly use eBay anymore either. I quit selling completely, and I quit buying compact disks as much as I used to. Now, I just check for a few odds and ends that pop into my mind every now and then.

eBay ain't what it used to be... too bad for them.

I don't go on EvilBay anymore either. Not only do they rape you on the fees, but now that you can't see bidders user IDs anymore, I can't tell if I'm bidding against my friends. Screw it, I don't need the hassle.

How could this be? You're saying that this seller can screw multiple customers and still retain that kind of feedback record? Wouldn't eBay take some sort of action against a seller like this?

Ah, I forgot the most important part.

After it was all said and done, I found the reason they were getting away with it...   Ebay had a loophole in their dispute system.  If the seller could not be contacted by ebay during the dispute, the auction could not be included in their feedback score; even if settled.

That's why ebay didn't take any action.  The seller was following ebay's rules.

Forget where I saw it, but there was a program that you just typed in the sellers name and you could sort through all their feedback. I used it once or twice a long time ago.

It is called Goofbay.  www.goofbay.com

It works pretty good and is fun too.

I didn't plan on commenting on this topic, but I now must.  I just sent some cars across country from Pennsylvania to California via USPS (no insurance).  The cars I sent were part of an auction I won a few months ago that I did not want or need.  The cars were still taped shut in there original boxes.  I packed them with air pillows and some foam.  The recipiant emails me and states that the Rapido coupler is broken, and if I want to rectify the problem.  That sounds like code speak for, "if you don't send me a new Rapido coupler, I will leave negative feedback on you."  I am going to have to mail a truck with a Rapido coupler to this guy so he doesn't leave negative feedback on me.  Once I do this, I made no money on this transaction since he only paid two bucks for the cars.  Unbelievable.  And all of this over a Rapido coupler, which I have at least 500 of sitting in a box collecting dust.  He must be that last guy in N scale still using them.  I'm speachless.

Me too........In Firefox there is an add-on called "ebay negs" that will open the sellers/buyers feedback in Toolhaus. It is a real kick a$$ program.  It will list all the negative and neutral feedback left for that seller.
As I read the page if I see a tread like "slow shipping" or something like that then I tend to not want to deal with them. Sometimes the sellers replies will tell you a lot too. If the seller sounds like a douche bag in the replies I say.........SEE YA!

Besides feedback, more disturbing is the fact that now even $2 items have the "User ID kept private". No way to check if new ebay users with zero feedback (sometimes the seller himself) tries to push up the price.
What is the next step. Seller can see your maximum bid.

Guys, this goes both ways, I won an item on the bay while on a job in Somerset, MA, the seller did not accept Paypal so I had the wife get a money order which was what he preferred, sent it out right away, now I am getting dinged for not paying because the MO got lost in the mail or something.
I am now back in my home state for my sons wedding and will not be back in MA for a few more days were I can look in to the matter.
If the guy had accepted Paypal there would have been no issue.

I have responded to his please pay me e-mail and still have not received any word as to if he may have received the payment or not.
