Yup, there was a headline referring to an article in the Business Pages of the Panama City News-Herald this morning. Seems Digitrax is moving its manufacturing to a location in Bay County, Florida, just East of Panama City. Says they will employ ten people and are getting a property tax exemption for ten years.

Too bad I'm not into DCC...Wish it had been Atlas or MTL that was moving here!  ;)

If your county is like my county, the next stop will be Mexico... :(

Whenever a manufacturing plant opens here with a 5 or 10 year tax break, you can be sure that at the end of that term the management better know some Spanish if they hope to keep their jobs.

Just tell them about your layout, they might consider it as a test facility for new products.

I was setting here laughing at the MD people complaining about the state and walk outside to see a $50.00 ticket on my car parked in front of my house - for parking the wrong way on the street.  I swear if it ain't the state it's the locals trying to get your money.

Steve,
Slow as business has been this year, hope you're not depending on me for a raise this year.

Wanna bet?? Went to a County Commission meeting this afternoon regarding the establishment of a new Economic Development Commission. Gulf County has a population of about 11,800. Of that number, only 538 are paid employees of a non-government entity! OTOH, 3,000 are prisoners and 800 are "screws".  :o :'(

One of the County Commissioners is a former "screw" who was fired for beating up a shackled prisoner. He didn't want to spend money trying to attract new industry, preferring to place his cronies on the County's payroll. He has run unopposed for years, suppose the voters in his district are afraid he'd beat them up.
