Check out Atlas at the National Show

I won't be making the trip to Louisville, due to some health issues I have to get resolved.(I have baaaad sleep apnea. About the worst the sleep specialist has seen. But I've just today got a C-PAP machine to help me breathe so I don't wake-up dead!) Anyway, not too subtle hints from the Atlas reps that they may have a new caboose to show. I have no idea what design, but "a very common prototype", which could be an International to a bay-window, to a Magor. Makes sense they want to cover lots of ground with one item. They should have at least a test-shot of the Trainman GP-15 too....maybe a running "pre-production" model. I think somebody besides Micro-Trains will take a shot at an 89' flatcar(can you say "Red Caboose"?) Probably a different prototype(like the one's Alan Curtis made). No "insider information", just talking to RC and looking at the market. Underframe from the auto-rack, a deck and they're there. Athearn has some stuff in the pipeline, behind several HO projects, so who knows? Anyway, I'll wish I was there, and if you can afford the gas, make the trip!  8)

A Magor caboose?  Land sakes, man, don't tease me!   ;)

I want someone to announce something really big.... like an ACe.  I'd even settle for an EVO.

Man, I'd have to sell a kidney to afford all the ACes that I'd buy.

Someone show me a picture of a Magor Caboose...  I'll have a C&O connection at Durbin, so I'll have an excuse to get one if'n that's the case...

Maybe it'll be a Bay Window, plenty of mileage in those.

Yeah, an Int'l bay window would be nice. Especially if they take the Walthers approach, and make the bay interchangeable, making kitbashing that much easier.

I've been bugging Cory to do a bay window caboose every chance I get; I suggested it to both he and Paul last year at Hartford.  I know Cory WANTS to do a bay window, since he and Paul both model railroads that need them.  I personally could use B&O, Chessie and P&LE bay window cabeese.  Note that I have also emailed Walthers and suggested they do their HO Platinum series bay windows in N-scale; Atlas would be my first choice to do them, but I'm not picky.   ;D

I wouldn't say no to some Magor's either; I need something besides EV and the western 4-window cabooses.

I still think Kato will do the SD70ACe and Atlas will do the GEVO's.

Well I was going to start a new thread for this specific engine but why waste bandwidth:

I'm sure I'm not the only person needing SW1500 switchers.  I checked google and it looks like Concor made a SW1200 at one point, but I can't find anyone else producing a SW1500, and the MP15 is too new for me.  So while I will buy modern power like ACes and GEVOs, my preference is for a SW1500 in IHB paint, in more than one road number.  And also make it in BNSF or You Pee schemes too, because we don't have enough of those two railroads by any means.

Tim, who does which is more of a question than if they'll happen. With the economic slow-down, down-turn, recession, stag-flation, what-ever you wanna call it, things may be delayed on the locomotive front 'til next year. Kato and Atlas watch the economy closer than an insider-trader. They know WHEN to hit the market with new products, and how hard to hit. Their market research guys probably make more than Paul Graf does...they're more important(no slash against Paul, but marketing guys make or break a company). The marketing guys at GM killed Oldsmobile...they chose to build Intrigues instead of Aurora's. One guess which one sold better. Kato and Atlas have both "hinted" to their dealers about "state-of-the-art" modern locomotives...duh! Can't imagine what that could be! 8)

What's the difference between a Magor Caboose and the NE caboose Life-Like ne Walthers makes?

Thanks for posting that image...

Take a look...  4 windows on the sides, and the cupola is centered.  Those would be the big differences.  I'm sure there are more esoteric differences as well, but I'll leave that to the equipment scholars aboard...

If indeed it is the Magor cab then I guess I will at least have the steel cabs of my road covered, though I will still need to figure out the wood cabooses...
