Years ago in the late 1960's I believe Aspen Models. the original company, not yje current company sold a Americanized 4-6-0 usuing Fleischmann's original version of this loco. They also sold if I remember a kit and you could do the work your self . I have one of these ready built locos it has a black boiler with gold bands, green cab with gray roof,blue domes with brass bands, gray smokebox area, running boards are white stripes, because white styerene was used for the base that rest's on the mech.I purchased a second German loco, you could get them without the DB Red Drivers and Rods, took the boiler with cab from a Rapido 0-6-0 and mounted it the same way,it is slightly shorter so the rear driver almost is not under the cab and there is a longer pilot deck. I painted it to match the A model loco. Used the Rapido Oldtimer loco cow catcher ,this is much stronger than the Aspen pilot which fell off that loco,I bought a cast metal replacement which I have never attached. These early Fleischmann locos like the drive train used under Con Cor's first F-3 diesels, had just two speeds, "Fast" & "Warp". Aspen also offered a Mother Hubbard kit which I purchased to convert the Trix PRR. 0-6-0 into a Camelback. Then they also offered Rivarossi / Atlas Pacific and Mikado locos with home built vandy tenders made from four wheel European tank cars to get the cylindrical shape of the tender. I have one each of these which I lettered for Union Pacific. I hope the current Fleischmann locos run slower, my oldies speed along even with pulse power. Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.
