I just bought a used one from a guy who did some modifications - when I get to my other computer I'll post a photo.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

It is actually N.
they do this loco (P8 KPEV) both in N and H0
the picture attached though, is of H0 model not N (they use crappy couplers in both)
Chris
ps it would be nice indeed if N scale model was that good  ;D

I thought that track looked too scale to be N , but that Chunk O Coupler made me think I was n and I was just not seeing the bottom of the ties  . Now that you say it's HO all is well with the world again .

That is definitely an N scale Rapido coupler. There are no European HO scale versions. European HO uses some sort of loop and peg arrangement. Perforce, that is an N scale model. The quality is much higher, but so are the prices, on the other side of the pond.

both pictures below are directly from http://www.fleischmann.de
H0 model:

and N model:

the picture in the original posting by engineshop is from http://www.reynaulds.com
and is the picture of H0 model, see:
http://www.reynaulds.com/fleischmann/f_ho_steam.asp?item=lngNumericSort
the model number is 416801

so when  you are saying "...Perforce, that is an N scale model..." you are (I am afraid) slightly off the mark  ;D
trust me, however good Fleishmann models are, they are not that good yet  :P

well, if I am wrong I shall have to go in the corner and eat my hat  :o
however until I see actual photo of the N gauge loco (not promo stuff from Reynaulds  :D )
I remain convinced that somebody is using H0 photo to sell N loco...

BTW my 0-8-0 is running! and feels like a brick. Thanks.

hey that's great news - how much does it weigh? (originally it was 45 grams, wasn't it?)
and performance?

The black N model doesn't have see through spokes on the pilot wheel . I agree , a bit of false advertising via photo shopping may be whats going on .

They do this all the time as Steve says, for example the new SBB Ae 6/6 model shown on their website is by a different manufacturer with n-scale couplers added.

They do run well though...

How much of this is just the HO model as well:

Quote
The Model:
Interior details in driver’s cab. Prototypical ”daylight“ between boiler and chassis. Operational Heusinger valve gear. Brake shoes between the wheels. Cast metal chassis. Drive in tender on 8 wheels with 4 traction tyres. Double headlights. Automatic couplings at each end. Epoch III.

Here it is..........

Not exact by any definition but certainly a work in progress.... all weahter cab; re-model the tender, change the leading walkway and steps, add a small sand dome and chnage the whistle location... might just pass muster
