IM 60' flats, a real quick look

For those wondering on the construction if these cars I've uploaded a quick pic.




The deck is made of metal and has no wood grain (unless my paint is heavy).  The couple pocket is integrated into the car with a boslter for the coupler screw which goes into the deck.  The other pieces are plastic.

Rio Grande is charging 15.95, list is 19.95.  That's not too bad.  Does anyone have the Trailer Train cars yet?  I was curious what the "new" or repainted date was.  If it's too new, I will have to pass.  Thanks.

Jeff, I bought all six TT cars but I don't have them yet.  What era are you looking for?  Trailer Train started repainting yellow in 1971 from what I understand and the Trailer Train scheme started getting TTX in the early 1990's...there are probably still some older TT scheme cars floating around, but that's a guess.  I've seen some recent photos of TT intermodal cars but none of the 60's.

The cars were built starting in 1964 in the brown scheme.

I'll post the dates when I get mine...if I can read 'em!

I got my 2 today. They are both TT. The deck looks really good, it look like the top is made of out 3 pieces of plastic to simulate the wood deck. They come with MT body mounted couplers and the trucks come with MT low pro wheels that I replaces with FVM wheels. They are nice and heavy and run well. The dates for both of mine say new 11-66. Hope they come out with the modern TTX scheme soon.

Those cars open up all kinds of possibilities for loads.  Farm equipment, military vehicles, pre-fab steel shapes...

I model Conrail circa June 1984, so these should fit right in.  I will probably decal over the lube plate with an older spilt rectangular type to back date them a little more.  The don't appear to have a lot of printing on them.  I have a couple photos of these, and they seem to have more printing than Intermountain put on them.  Also, some of the OTTX cars I have photos of have a different stirrup set up also.  Interesting.  I wish they would have done the MTTX type of flat car.  I have some photos of them still in the box car red scheme in the mid 90's.  Thanks.

There's numerous variations in TTX flats if you just go by reporting mark (for example, there's 60' and 89'4" MTTX flats)... what you need to do is find is the class and it's respective number series and search within that.

These are nice cars indeed just received my first Trailer Train one I have another TT one on the way and
a Southern. I might buy more and use a few for some bulkhead flat cars by scrathbuilding the bulkheads.

Flats could be used for various purposes, COFC, TOFC, etc.
