I did not have the time to take the pictures yesterday and I hope it is not too late.

Those are 4 C44-9 that started as low ditch light undecorated models before Kato announced the would do the SP version of the C44-9. Since I already had put in multiple hours detailing it, I did not want to trash them and finished the engines over the weekend.

I tried my hands on a few detail parts I never did before. I made 4 tiny little grab irons for the back of the equipment box.

For the fan on top of the box, I cut some BLMA EMD GP30 fan pieces down. I used a small wire piece for the door handle at the nose door.

I also bend a wire to connect the two break cylinders.

Of course it would have been nice to get a heads up from Kato a year ago about the new release but I will survive.

No for something completely different. I have to say I never painted something so ugly.

I've painted uglier things, but not on purpose..... :'(

Nice work those C44-9Ws BTW!  Hope Kato does the re-tooled version in BNSF, with the correct ditch lights, cab windows, cab domes, and grilles.  The fuel tanks on the new ones are a big improvement too.

Thanks Eric, stop in again next time your up this way, done any super elvating yet.
Pedro, the radius is 20.5 inches and the grade is about 2.1 percent. I have not torture tested since adding the track coming out the bottom to the lower level. But after I built the helix two years ago I backed a train down it to check it out and one Atlas GP-7 would pull 6 50' cars up, one GP-38 would pull 7 cars and one LL BL-2 would pull 9 cars up. I''l do some more testing once I get the lower level wired up and running, I can pm you the results.
