I meant to ask when I first saw the notice on these. They sure look nice, but…

Are these the trucks that should have been on all the AC4400's that Kato did? Or only certain ones? Or certain roads? Or…?

Also, by the name "steerable truck" I assume these somehow bend? To be steerable? How about a link to more info on this, please.

Thanks
Brian

Kato did pick numbers for the CP AC4400CW run which do not have the radial trucks (first order with "Dual-Flag" scheme #9500-9582, even the ones with the "Beaver" logo are just repainted ones due to various degrees of fire damage on the hood, the remainder of the units still feature "Dual-Flag" era paint detailing...)

as far as I know (and I do not know much...) only CP, CSX, Cartier and QNS&L AC4400CW and the first two orders of CP ES44AC are equiped with radial trucks. BHP Billitons AC6000 are equiped with different radial trucks...

yes, the wheels have no flanges and there is a steering wheel in the cab and the engineer has to drive very extremly carefully so he wont derail the engine...   ;)
(...sorry, I'm just kidding, I hope Robbman will join in and explain how they work)

Also KCS's AC44 has them, and the AC60 that CSX has. Also the AC44 that CSX has has both trucks 2-173 are like the kato model and 1, 201-599, and the 5000's have the radial truck.

I just got the sideframes intall on one of my CSX AC44 and they look pretty kool.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.
