Tom may be thinking of the old MDC tooling.  I believe they were models of the FMC prototypes.  These new models look to have much better detail!

Nothing IM about these...

Here's the new FVM car:

And here's the IM car, a P-S car as mentioned before.  Different cars, different ends, different roofs, different side sills, etc.

Looks good ..

Can we lower them?

Will they come with the FVM wheels?

Sure, you could lower them...

These are coming with MTL lo-pro wheel sets.  Do you think people would accept metal wheelsets?  Or would they complain that they didn't have MTL wheels on them?  Price might go up too, would people be willing to pay?

I dunno, just asking.  I have a feeling I know what the answer here would be, but what about the rest of the N scale world?

The cars look great - and count me in for them! But I'd prefer Accumates, I find that they tend to do a good job lowering most cars - and they are far more accurate. These are 70T cars, right?

But that aside, this is great news!

I would have wanted accumate trucks with body mounted MTL couplers and FMV wheels.

Stay cool and do my work for me... 8) 8)

You're not the only one. ;-)  But, I'll let Matt explain his reasoning on that.
