Seems to be a significant price increase over Nos. 1 & 2.

MTL tank cars always cost a lot more than boxcars. Guess it is the extra parts required for a tank car. Way back when it was around $3.50 vs. $4.80, IIRC.

I guess these will sell out quickly ...  ???

I'm surprised that the choice is tanks cars. I thought "runners" wanted more "bread & butter" cars - guess I was wrong. :-X

Yes I agree . Would have thought ULTX , SHPX , etc wearing basic black . Nice .... yes , runners .... no , unless you are like me and don't intend on giving any MTL car a pedestal upon which to plop . I spent 95 bucks for a DSS&A MTL box , as soon as I got it I body mounted that sucker . To me all cars are runners , MTL just cost collector prices . I wish they would stop calling them runners , and call them something else because this will only cause confusion years later when they have to be described when being resold . Of all the companies to call them runners ..... MTL what where you thinking .

Yes I agree . Would have thought ULTX , SHPX , etc wearing basic black going for a reduced price like 15 bucks a car , 45 for the 3 pack would be what I call "runner cars" . These are just a "run" of 3 number sets at the same nose bleed price . Nice .... yes , runners .... no , unless you are like me and don't intend on giving any MTL car a pedestal upon which to plop . I spent 95 bucks for a DSS&A MTL box , as soon as I got it I body mounted that sucker . To me all cars are runners , MTL just cost collector prices . I'd of prefered a ULTX set, but the price seems fair.  These are 4 car sets with a street price of about $13.00 per car. That's $2 to $5 (street price) cheaper than most of their recent tank car releases.

I could use a few more tankcars.  What timeframe were these cars used?

From the 1920's to the mid-1960's. The oil companies started removing their names from cars after World War II, though.

It'll be a Smokey the Bear car with the three bears cars thrown in to make a runner pack.  Smokey had to team up with the Three Bears because he never had any cubs himself.  Seems every time Mrs. Smokey went into heat  Ole Smokey would hit her over the head with that shovel he carries.

I'm really hoping for a Ben & Gerry's runner pack. That'd go great with my extensive Popsicle and Hershey fleet.

I wonder if we'll ever see a Yogurt series? Any thoughts?

Oh, but if I could dare to dream  ;)

For crying out loud.  Don't mention cubs.  Next thing you know they'll be a Chicago Cubs series followed up by every other major league team.  Don't give them any ideas.
