Old PC Ballast car
« on: March 14, 2007, 09:17:30 AM »
Tom Stolte from Oddballs decals posts prototype pics once a week on the ALPS decal group I'm on. This week he caught an old PC ballast hopper in MOW Yellow, but so dusty brown I had to look twice. Now this car would be a challenge in any scale I think.

I don't think rrpicturearchives allows direct linking to pictures, so url follows:

It's a 'Tom Car.'  Tom took the photo and it would be perfect for Tom to weather.
Thanks much,

go for it! i am still looking around for the kits from eastern car works for them. even though ECW is gone, i'm still looking. those are old enterprise hoppers from the 50'/60's that CR converted to ballast service by cutting the roof off and converting the trucks to roller-bearing sets to be FRA compliant. not many had the true roller-bearing trucks as to the majority of them that had friction-bearing converts.

This CR patched one sat on the siding at Sterling for a # of months last spring
& summer-appears to be the same.

I think I took a couple detail pics too-have to search my collection.
They're not "Crown Victorias"-they're known
as "Police Interceptors"
