Model Me... A new project challenge??

This came up over on the A-board...
http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=35068

I was going to suggest creating a thread over there to do a modeling challenge, but that board moves too fast, and it would sink like a stone.  Perhaps here...  Any thoughts?

We could limit it to reasonably small, universal structures to encourage participation.  But I think that some sort of scratchbuilding challenge would be useful to those of us who are just dipping their toes in to learn from those of us who are in up to our eyeballs...

Okay, I'd like to try this, if it's not next to impossile to find
something we can all agree on. We need to find something
that has relativly good wall elevation shots though.

Hey, I have some photos of a bank building near Timonium I've been meaning to build. It would make  a great N scale structure, because it is such a cool old building. It's the old Cockseville Bank on York road. Want to see them?

OR

Maybe we could find something off of the Historic American Building
Survey (HABS) web sight ?

OR

Would you want to pick something that has already been published in
Model Railroader etc  and build it in N scale ?  I've been going over magazines the are pre-N scale and redoing some of HO or O projects in N scale.

Rather than a specific structure, maybe we look at a neat prototype image, and see what we can create that's the same "flavor"...  I found this on my trip to Elkins...

It's a small-ish stone loader.  The conveyors lead back to the hillside that's all scooped out.  I didn't take a lot of detail pictures, but I like the way it's weathered.  There's a couple of outbuildings, including a quonset hut garage.  The whole scene could be modeled in N in about 12-18" x about 8".  It could fit on a module, or in a small area of a layout.  If you do modern era, you could have it abandoned, just like the prototype!   It looks like it had one siding that could handle a couple of cars at a time.  There's a concrete structure behind the metal part, it could be round like a silo.

John just did a similar scene on the M&O using the Walthers loader.  Of course, WE won't sell our souls to Walthers, we're Scratch Builders afterall! ;D

If you like this one, I have a couple more shots of the location I can put up.

What say you?

We just need enough who want to do it... no prizes, no minimum participation... just bragging rights.
