Spookshow shows the 'stock' Trix 0-6-0 as having pickup only on the front and rear drivers.  So was it inside-frame wipers  or flange edge wipers, or what?

Curious as to why you had to add the new wire wipers to the wheel treads

I successfully took down the flanges on the Trix decapod after I got the motor swapped to a five-pole Kato (more torque) and a really good diamond file.   It did work, but I only did it because I had two more chassis in reserve if it turned out to be an epic mistake.  But on the 'risk vs. reward' evaluation, not really sure I'd do it again.   Getting that entire drive train back in quarter and working without a hitch was much more difficult than leaving it alone.   Unless you're running Atlas C55 I'd say let it go.

I'm a firm believer in painting or neolubing all the rods, and that is more effective than you'd think for final appearance.

Track - uses the chassis frame from the driver axle.  Track + uses a PB back of wheel wiper on a PCB board.  I wanted pickup on both sides of the chassis, and did not have the old PCB/Wiper assembly that mounts to the chassis where my nylon scree is.  Also was going for motor isolation in case I decide to add a decoder.

Right now I am just trying to ensure it runs smoothly, so now I have 8 points of pickup with the tender trucks.

There is an easier way to lower the flanges, and that is by using a flat platen horizontal belt sander with a fine grit, touching the six wheels at a slight angle (less than 10 degrees) to the belt length axis which will grind all six simultaneously while the wheels spin.  Just have to be careful not to run too hot leaving it on the belt too long and measuring diameter in between.  Obviously, doing this without the motor and cleaning it thoroughly before reassembly is a requirement.
