For 6" curb with a 6" flag, I use 0.040" square stock for the curb, and when I mask for the concrete color, offset on the road surface to add the flag. 

To translate into maple syrups, that's 1mm square stock.  That seems like plenty, as I doubt Jasper had higher barrier curbs.  I don't remember stepping over any during last visit. 

That's what I've done too. I wish I had a good solution for rounding curbs and not consistently breaking the stuff. I've had SOME success, but also plenty of failures as well.

From my understanding, there is no federal standard for curb heights; they're determined by municipalities or counties. They also vary due to elevation and drainage conditions, for example the curb at the top of a hill is lower in height than the curb at the bottom of the hill, where water runs down and can potentially flood. The part of my layout where I have paved roads is relatively flat so I'm not too concerned about different curb heights, so I personally use .040" Evergreen styrene strips for my curbs, they're close enough for Rock 'N Roll. That also works out since I pair them with strips of Evergreen sidewalk sheets, which are also .040" thick.

I don't have a town on my layout but the modeling (in this thread and others) is impressive.  My industrial access road is crowned so the road slopes away from the center for drainage but I don't think anyone would ever notice.  If you have curbs you might need storm sewer grates.

Thanks, I saw those. The printed versions give opportunity to include mobility ramps, gutters and other details.  I'm printing mine now so hope to have something to show soon.

I could only wish that was my modeling . the designer of the 3d files posted these .. I'm going to use them for my layout road builds ..  however, all the suggestions posted above are all valid ..

One thing I noticed over the years is that in older areas the curbs get lower - due to multiple re-pavements.

I can't take credit for the pictures .. those are from the author ..   as far as curbs .. where I live in Maryland, there is this tendency to pave higher than the manhole covers, creating instant tire and alignment hazards .. and MDOT doesn't appear to give a 💩
