They're in the same area, presumably don't have the same staffing issues for some reason, and could probably absorb the remaining MTL staff to bolster and find efficiencies... 

Don't know what the relative volumes of truck and couplers are between MTL and KD, but lately KD has been releasing only one HO freight car per month.

Kadee has been going through their own production issues.  They've been down to one release per month for a while.

FWIW, the underframe is glued to the carbody with some type of flexible adhesive, ie Goo, and just like the passenger cars, there is only 1 correct way to put it back together. There are no "clips"or ribs to hold car together. you either have to resort to some type of adhesive, or make the screws long enough to engage the floor of the car. Quite the departure from the previous gon types I have experience with. Man, this is turning out to be a much bigger project than I was expecting. Mike, thanx for the idea of using the sheared off top to hold trux on!

I would love to see ribbed backed low profile metal wheels in N scale.
A proper Semi-scale (equivalent to Code 88 in HO) would be nice to see aswell.

Understanding that the market for both of these is probably very limited.

Yeah, market would be limited as they were banned for new or rebuilt cars January 1, 1958, and banned outright from interchange from January 1, 1968.

Prior to 1958, they probably had already fallen out favor.

How wide are the Fox Valley semi-scale wheels? My feeling is that they’re at least in the ballpark of a code 88 equivalent.

FVM fine wheels measure out to about .059"  which would be about the equivalent to .106 in HO.
Code 88 in N should be about .047"

Like I said before tho I can see the limited appeal 😅
