Yes, as above.  But I recently tried “LA Totally Awesome Cleaner” from the Dollar Store instead of simple green.  Used it full strength and in the same way as using simple green and it worked great.  Much cheaper too and cleans floor tile grout brilliantly as well.    No home should be without a bottle of this stuff.

Excellent suggestion!  I heard about that stuff, and I bought couple of bottles, but haven't tried them yet.  Looking at the ingredients, it looks like it is Lye-based.  It would be an alternative to the Purple Power.

Ok , the Citrus Gel came in one day . I used 3/4 of a AHM gon for the test , had to hold it somewhere . Brushed it on , and let it ruminate for 2 hours then in the sink it went under the faucet with me scrubbing with a hand brush . In less than 5 minutes a good amount of paint was off . Other plastics and or longer times may have melted the plastic as Pete warned , but I consider this another tool that can be used ,

Looks like not only a good paint stripper but also does a good job at commencing heavy weathering of that gon too.

Yeah, it does make the red paint look weathered, but instead of rust, it shows the black plastic.

Well, I’m kind of disappointed in the Railwire in this instance: in spite of the obvious potential in the topic title, only one of us came up with an appropriate response.

Also, as I get older and more careful about messing around toxic chemicals, I’ve just stopped stripping the paint on most models, particularly anything that’s going to end up weathered.  Modern models usually have a pretty thin factory coating, and most paints cover pretty well. So yes, less strippers in my house…
